State Police investigate 2-car head-on collision in Philipstown

PRESS RELEASE
Philipstown, New York – On April 17, 2017 at approximately 10:52 p.m. New York State Police from the Wappinger barracks were dispatched to a two-car auto collision on Route 9D, just south of the Breakneck Tunnel.

An investigation indicated that Gregory V. Prince, age 29, of Hill Crest, New York, was traveling southbound on Route 9D.  A second vehicle, operated by 61-year-old Lynford R. Davis of Beacon, New York, was traveling northbound on Route 9D.  Lynford attempted to pass a northbound vehicle in a no passing zone and struck Prince head-on.  Subsequent to the two vehicles colliding, Lynford’s vehicle exited the roadway and struck a utility pole.

Lynford was airlifted to Westchester Medical Center with serious injuries and is listed in critical but stable condition.  Prince was transported by ambulance to Westchester Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.
