Greetings Art Lovers:

Greetings Art Lovers:
The trees are flowering, the Forsythia bushes are almost budding, and the garden is getting cleaned up because it is spring. The holidays at this time celebrate a sense of hope and renewal which is reflected in many of our creative workshops scheduled at Arts Mid-Hudson this spring. Feeling like you’d like to be creative and have more peace in your life? Why not try Painting as a Meditation? Or learn how to make those intricately colored Ukrainian Easter Eggs, Pysanky. We are also offering ways to up your game infinding and managing grants. Plus, members get discounted rates!
Although this has been a week of spring holidays, there are still many arts events this weekend. Thursdaynight in Poughkeepsie, Claudia Gorman will be giving a short talk on her approach to the tricky task of candid pet portraits based on her years of experience. The talk precedes the Fabulous Felines photography exhibit opening on April 22nd. Boardman Road Branch Library, 5:30-7:00 p.m.
Kids out for spring break? We know Easter is coming up and the bunnies need to warm up for the egg hunts. Friday you could take the kids (age 5-12 years) and search the Broadway Arts gallery for art clues – kids can color and paint eggs and the event ends with basket stuffing surprise. 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
This Friday evening at ASK, there is a jazz concert “Search for Peace” performed by the Hudson Valley Recital Project: “Search for Peace,” with special performance of “The Quiescence – Themes for Peace” written by Bob Shaut during the Vietnam War. 7:30 p.m. Get tickets at the door or in advance.
It’s Queen City Saturday in Poughkeepsie – hands-on arts activities include Poughkeepsie Prints at the Adriance Memorial Library – make your own handmade paper embedded with seeds. 2:00-4:00 p.m.
Austin-based Carrie Elkin will bring her sublime vocals and exquisitely-penned songs to the Empire State Railway Museum Saturday night, along with special guest Danny Schmidt in a CD release performance for The Penny Collector, dedicated to Elkin’s father. 70 Lower High Street in Phoenicia – doors open at 7:00 p.m., music at 7:30 p.m.
