Obituary, Joan Trank

 

Stormville – Joan Trank, 74, a resident of Stormville since 1974 passed from this life on April 11, 2017 after a long, courageous battle with cancer. She passed quietly in her sleep, surrounded by her loved ones. She will be dearly missed by many.

Born in 1942 in New York City, Joan was the daughter of Richard and Mary Leonard. She graduated from Cathedral High School in 1960.

On August 24, 1963 at Holy Name Church in New York City, Joan married the love of her life, Lawrence J. “Larry” Trank, who survives at home. Joan and Larry have been married 53 years. They celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary at St. Columba Church in 2014.

There was nothing Joan loved more than spending time with her family.

One of her greatest joys was hosting Sunday dinners when all would gather for good food, good company, and plenty of care packages to take home.

In addition to her husband, Joan is survived by her children, Annmarie and her husband Michael Heiney of Poughkeepsie, Lawrence R. Trank of Hyde Park, Jennifer and her husband Randal Byrd of Putnam Valley; her beloved grandson and joy of her life Ryan Byrd; her siblings, Maureen Klecker of Hay Market, Virginia, Juliette Relihan of Newport, Rhode Island, Edward Leonard and his wife Nancy of Baldwin, NY, John Leonard and his wife Margaret of Stormville, NY; as well as many nieces and nephews. Joan was also predeceased by two of her siblings, Richard Leonard and Annmarie Savery.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday April 15 from 2-4 and 7-9pm at 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Monday April 17 at 10am at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction.

Children and babies were always near and dear to Joan’s heart. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Joan’s favorite charity, St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital.
