Linwood B. Boone entered into eternal rest at his home in Wingdale, NY on Sunday, April 9, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. He was 79.
He was born to Willie C. Boone and Lenore Futrell Boone in Potecasi, NC on June 27, 1937. He graduated from W.S. Creecy from High School in Rich Square, NC. He married Joyce Boyce in 1958.
He came to New York and worked at the former Harlem Valley State Hospital in Wingdale in Food Service for 34 years.
Linwoood was well known and beloved in the community for his many talents and contributions to the lives of others. His hearty laughs and can-do attitude will reside in the hearts of his friends forever.
Linwood is survived by his four children. Fernando “Bernie” Boone (Kathy) of Nashville, TN, Terri Brisbon (Bernard) of Poughkeepsie, NY, Linwood D. Boone (Samantha) of Torrington, CT and Antwone Boone (Kayla) of Oakridge, TN.;
six grandchildren: Jamal, Hassan, Imani, Zachary, Izaiah and Izabella Boone and three Great Grandchildren Samiyah, Yael and Greyson; five brothers and sisters, Willie C. Boone, Jr. (Julia) Annie Gatewood, Joyce Cole (Ralph), Lydia Boone and George T. Boone (Shirley); and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Linwood is predeceased by his parents and his brother William Boone.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 from 2- 4 and 7- 9 PM at the Horn & Thomes, Inc. Funeral Home, 83 East Main Street. Pawling. NY.
A funeral service will be held at Christ Church on Quaker Hill on Thursday, April 13, 2017 at 11:00 AM; Rev. Mark Allan and Rev. Ronald Grant will officiate.
