April is National Poetry Month, and all of us at Arts Mid-Hudson invite you to the Dutchess County Poetic Party featuring seven gifted poets. Dutchess County Poet Laureate Poet Gold Wilkerson will read from her works and we are especially pleased that all poets nominated for the Dutchess County Poet Laureate will also read from their current works including; Celia Bland, Lucia Cherciu, Mark Dema, Raphael Kosek, Larry Sansone, and Edwin Torres. A festive reception follows – we look forward to celebrating with you, Sunday afternoon at 2:30 – 4:30 p.m.Arts Mid-Hudson gallery. 
So much to do this weekend! You could start your weekend on Friday night and enjoy Saugerties First Friday opening reception for Metal & Wood at Emerge Gallery. The exhibit includes wall sculptures, assemblages and some standing sculpture, created with metal or wood and most share a certain whimsical quality. Exhibiting artists include 2 Nutty Artists, Loel Barr, Ed Berkise, Michael Ciccone, Shelley Davis, Ruth Edwy, Robert George, Amy Puccio, and Fay Wood. 5:00-9:00 p.m.

Head to Poughkeepsie on Saturday afternoon and hear three artists discuss their work on display in DIGITALIA, at Barrett Art Center moderated by Thomas Ellman, Associate Professor of Computer Science and Media Studies, Vassar College. Reception follows talk – free and open to the public. 3:00 – 4:00 p.m.
Saturday local artists are stepping up to support the people affected by the recent devastating floods in Peru. A silent auction of donated artworks by Elisa Pritzker, Charles Geiger, Mary Flad, Xuewu Zheng, Dick Crenson, Alexis Feldheim, Leigh Williams, Karl Schmitz, Claudia Gorman, Barbara Todd, Alexandra Beard, Michael Sibilia, Nestor Madalengoitia and more will raise funds for affected victims. 5:00-7:00 p.m., Art Centro, 485 Main Street, Poughkeepsie, NY.
Saturday at The Dorsky experience performance art by Thomas Albrecht in conjunction with Intimately Unfamiliar, (noon-2:00 p.m.) followed by the performance, “Art Collides,” with SUNY New Paltz student’s response to artwork in the museum (2:00 p.m.)
In Newburgh, Mythology opens at Safe Harbors Ann Street Gallery on Saturday night with an artist reception. Throughout history, mythology has been an inspirational source for great art and literature. In this exhibition, visitors will find artists from across the country and abroad who are united by a shared interest in the timeless appeal of classical myths, the imaginative nature of storytelling and visual fantasy. 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. Free and open to the public.
Saturday night in Rhinebeck, see Roxie Johnson’s solo exhibit, On The Horizon, at the Betsy Jacaruso Gallery opening with a reception 5:00-7:00 p.m.

MUNICH PHILHARMONIC STRING QUARTET
Newburgh Chamber Music will present the renowned Munich Philharmonic String Quartet at St. George’s Church, 105 Grand Street in Newburgh. The program will feature Haydn’s Opus 74, no.3 “The Rider”; Schulhoff’s “Five Pieces” and Schumann’s Quartet No. 3. Concert followed by a reception with the artists.

Outsider artist Sam Bartman’s solo retrospective features 60 years of his exuberant artworks created by mixing resin, varnishes, automotive paints, and artists’ oils with water based pigments and mediums, to create reproducible chemical reactions that form the basis for his dramatic impasto brushwork and floating colors.
