The Flood Watch continues for * Portions of northwestern Connecticut, western Massachusetts, eastern New York, and southern Vermont. * Through Saturday morning * River levels are elevated across the region and the ground is quite saturated from the recent rainfall and snow melt. * An area of rainfall will spread through the region this afternoon into this evening, with 0.5 to 1 inch expected. Locally higher amounts are possible in thunderstorms. Additional lighter rainfall will linger into Friday night. * This rainfall, along with some additional runoff from snow melt, will allow for many rivers to reach or exceed flood stage. The Hudson River, Hoosic River and Housatonic River basins will be the most susceptible to flooding. * In addition to river flooding, some minor flooding of urban, low lying and poor drainage areas is possible this afternoon when the heaviest rainfall is expected. Ponding of water will lead to some road closures and standing water will be present in fields and yards. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on current forecasts. You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop. && $$
