2017 DEC Grant Award Reception Monday, May 1st, 2016 from 4:30-6:30 pm

Arts Mid-Hudson will present grant awards totaling over $116,000 to artists and organizations throughout Dutchess, Orange and Ulster Counties. The grant awards will be made in three categories – Project Grants, Individual Artist Commission, and Arts Learning at an open awards reception held at The Barn at Buttermilk Falls. These awards are made possible with funds from the Decentralization Program, a regrant program of the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew Cuomo and the New York State Legislature and administered by Arts Mid-Hudson.
46 Community-based Project Grants will receive funding in 2017, serving an estimated audience of over 31,000 people. Project Grants support the arts and cultural activities of non-profit groups, organizations and artists in Dutchess, Orange and Ulster Counties. Recipients can be found from Tivoli to Beacon, Poughkeepsie to Amenia, Warwick to Newburgh, Big Indian to Kingston and many more. These include professional and community based arts activities benefiting the general public in theater, dance, music, film, video, literature, visual arts, historical and cultural activities, and the use of libraries and museums as venues for the arts. Project grant programs are designed to serve all ages and ethnically diverse populations from all geographic areas of all three counties.
Arts Mid-Hudson is excited to be able to include four Individual Artist Commission Grants in the 2017 Awards. This grant program supports the creation of new work by an individual artist, which involves the community as context for creating the work. This year’s recipients include Marline A. Martin, “Hard Ears (Hayd Ayz)” and Steven Steele Cawman, “Cultivating Ecological Interdependence” in Dutchess County, and Jing Shuai, “Fan Your Talents” and Robert Juan Rodriquez, “Afro-Cuban Music Composition” in Ulster County.
Arts Learning Grants supports sequential, skill-based workshop series focused on the arts and artistic process. Projects can take place in-school during the school day and/or in after-school and community-based settings for youth and/or senior learners. Eleven projects were approved for funding to take place during 2017. Projects include visual arts, dance and theatre among others.
A full list of recipients for each category can be found at the bottom of the release. Please RSVP prior to Thursday, April 28th by calling: 845.454.3222
