Dutchess County “Lights It Up Blue” for World Autism Awareness Day

Dutchess County “Lights It Up Blue” for
World Autism Awareness Day

Dutchess County is proud to “Light It Up Blue” to kick off April, which is Autism Awareness Month. Autism affects many families locally, nationally, and globally with as many as 1 in 68 children in the U.S. living on the autism spectrum.

As part of our efforts to ThinkDIFFERENTLY, county employees have gotten a head start on Autism Speaks’ Light It Up Blue (#LIUB) initiative and wore blue today in celebration of Sunday’s World Autism Awareness Day celebrations. On Sunday, look for the Mid-Hudson Bridge’s beautiful necklace lights to also be lit blue to show support for the cause.

We hope you will join us in Lighting Dutchess County Up Blue this weekend! To learn more about Autism Speaks and the “Light Up Blue” program, visit Autism Speaks, where you can print out your own “I Light It Up Blue” sign to proudly display in your photos.

Then we invite you to head over to our Dutchess County Facebook and Twitter pages where you’ll find our #LIUB photos throughout the day, and post your own to show your support for this important initiative.
