Seattle man charged with burglarizing North East home

Dover Plains, New York – On February 28, 2017, the New York State Police at SP Dover Plains arrested 24-year-old John Darden, of Seattle, Washington, for Burglary 3rd Degree, a Class D Felony.

On the afternoon of February 28, 2017, Dutchess County 911 dispatched SP Dover Plains Troopers to a possible burglary in progress on Mill Road in the Town of North East. The caretaker of the property observed lights being turned on and off inside of the residence along with seeing a male in the kitchen. Members of the New York State Police made contact with the male within the residence who eventually exited and was taken into custody.

During the investigation, it was revealed that the male had traveled  to the area from New York City and discovered the residence while walking on the rail trail. The male entered the property on February 27, 2017 and remained until he was discovered on February 28, 2017.

Darden was arraigned in the Town of Amenia Court by the Honorable Judge Moore who remanded him to Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $25,000 cash or $50,000 bond. The defendant is scheduled to appear in the Town of North East Court on March 6, 2017 at 1:00 PM.
