UPDATE – On February 27, 2017 at approximately 3:48 p.m., Troopers responded to Lexington Avenue in Mohegan Lake to investigate the report of a deceased subject located in a field.  Subsequent to further investigation, Troopers were able to identify Mr. Sharpe as the deceased.  At this time, Sharpe’s death does not appear to be suspicious in nature.  An autopsy was performed on February 28, 2017 by Dr. Virginia Richards of the Westchester Medical Examiner’s Office.  The cause and manner of death is pending toxicology.

Cortlandt, New York – The New York State Police from Cortlandt is seeking the public’s assistance to help locate 59-year-old Joseph Sharpe, of Mohegan Park, in Cortlandt, New York.

Sharpe is reported to have left Mohegan Park located on Lexington Avenue in the Town of Cortlandt on January 26, 2017.  He is described as being 5’8” tall, 160 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.  He was last seen wearing grey sweat pants, a white t-shirt, a black nylon jacket and a black baseball cap with “New York City” written on the front.

Sharpe has previous connections to the Yonkers area and police believe he may be staying in a homeless shelter.

Sharpe suffers from mental illness and may be in need of medication.
