Madaline Myra Nutter Bellows, 93, passed away on January 11, 2017. She was born on July 5, 1923 in Exeter, Maine to Harold Franklin Nutter and Pearl Lestelle French Nutter. In addition to her parents, Madaline was preceded in death by her sister, Forestine Heath.
Madaline graduated from Unity Maine High School in 1941. She and her husband Ithamar “Ike” farmed for many years in Freedom, Maine before moving to Amenia, New York; There she worked for the State of New York at the Wassaic State School. She first retired to Clearwater, FL and then to Hendersonville where she has resided for the past 21 years. She found joy in baking, sewing, antiques, reading, camping, and birding.
Left to cherish her memory are her beloved husband of 70 years, Ithamar M. Bellows; her children, Nedra J. Bellows (James Murphy) of Lincolnville, ME and Roderic H. Bellows (Cheryl) of Travelers Rest, SC; sister, Edith Jordan of Asheville, NC; grandchildren, Erin Bates of Charlottesville, VA, Steven Bates of McKinleyville, CA, Jeffrey Bellows (Joseph Vitterito) of Pownal, ME, and Jason Bellows (Jennifer) of Denver, CO; great grandchildren Elias, Elliot, and Evan Bellows Vitterito, and Ike and Harper Bellows; nephews, Barry Estes (Diane) of Asheville, NC, and Michael Smith, FL; and nieces, Marcia Thompson (Merle) of Searsport, ME, and Camilla Charrier and Carlene Bessey, both of Clinton, ME.
Private interment will be held at a later date in Clearwater, FL. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Four Seasons Hospice, 571 South Allen Rd., Flat Rock, NC 28731.
