Obituary, John Francis Sheridan

Millerton – John Francis Sheridan, 70, a thirty year resident of Millerton formerly of Amenia, NY passed away peacefully on Monday, January 23, 2017 at his home in Millerton with his beloved family at his side. Mr. Sheridan worked as a lineman for Verizon Communications for over 31 years prior to his retirement.

Born May 22, 1946 in Brooklyn, NY he was the son of the late John F. and Mary (Gillespie) Sheridan. John was a graduate of St. Anthony’s Catholic High School in Smithtown, NY and received an Associate’s degree in electronics from Suffolk County Community College in Selden, Long Island. John served his country honorably in the United States Navy from 1965 to 1971, were he was stationed aboard several different submarines at Pearl Harbor in Hawaii and many other locations in the Pacific and abroad. On September 16, 1982 in Worchester, NY he married and shared the next 35 years with the love of his life Charlotte Boyian. Mrs. Sheridan survives at home in Millerton. John enjoyed deer hunting and gardening in his spare time but he mostly enjoyed spending time with his loving family and his beloved grandchildren.

In addition to his dear wife, John is survived by his daughter Charlotte M. Merwin and her husband Steven of Millerton and his son, John M. Sheridan and wife Shannon of Millerton; four grandchildren, Wyatt and Natalie Merwin and Emma and Quinn Sheridan; four brothers, Tim, Joe, Dennis and Christopher Sheridan; two sister, Mary Tucci and Kathleen Sheridan and several nieces and nephews and many friends. In addition to his parents John was predeceased by a brother, Andy Sheridan.

There are no calling hours. Graveside services and burial with full Naval Military Honors will take place on Friday, January 27, 2017 at 10am at Irondale Cemetery, Route 22, Millerton, NY. Rev. Kent Wilson will officiate.
