Pawling Rotary Welcomes Speaker John Brockway
by Susan Stone

Members of the Pawling Rotary Club were regaled with tales of historical interest, when John Brockway, President of the Historical Society of Quaker Hill, Pawling, Whaley Lake and Holmes, was the guest speaker at their regular meeting at noon on Tuesday, January 17th, at the Lathrop Center in Lakeside Park.  Mr. Brockway had everyone’s undivided attention as he spoke knowledgeably about the settling of Quaker Hill and Holmes, and the eventual integration of both communities under the greater Pawling  community banner. Additionally, Mr. Brockway brought a small part of the current exhibit at the John Kane House with him, which provides a documented prospective of the Holmes/Whaley Lake community.  This exhibit will be featured at the John Kane House through next fall, and may be viewed by contacting the John Kane House at  (845) 855-9316 · The historic John Kane House is located 126 E Main St; Pawling (village), New York.
