Upcoming Firearm Cleaning & Safety Clinics

HF LearnSafety Firearms and Security Officer Training will conduct a FIREARM CLEANING AND SAFETY CLINIC on Tuesday, October 25, 2016 from 7 to 9 p.m. and again on Saturday, November 12 from 9 to 11 a.m. Each clinic will be held at the HFLS Training Center, 280 Kent Road, New Milford, CT.

This group class is designed to help firearm owners learn and understand the best possible way to clean their particular firearm.

Through regular gun cleaning, lubricating and rust prevention, owners will get many years of top performance and enjoyment from their handguns or rifles.

This class is appropriate for those who have never cleaned a gun before or those who have trouble disassembling or reassembling their firearm when they clean them.

Participants may bring up to two unloaded rifles, pistols or shotguns along with their respective manuals, cleaning agents, brushes/kits, firearm disassembly tools, rags/patches, safety glasses and gloves. Each participant must present his pistol or rifle permit at registration.

 

This clinic will cover the following topics:

  • Disassembling firearms
  • Cleaning firearms safety and properly
  • Selecting the products that work best
  • Re-assembling firearms
  • Safe storage and protection of valuables

HF LearnSafety Firearms Training Center, located at 280 Kent Road in New Milford, Connecticut, has been providing firearms safety and specialized firearms instruction to people throughout New England and beyond for more than a decade.

Instructor Herbert Furhman brings his experience from many years of service in the police and criminal justice fields.  He is a retired member of the CT law enforcement community. An active certified P.O.S.T. state firearms instructor of the Connecticut Police Academy, he is also a National Rifle Association law enforcement and civilian instructor, a CT State Police security officer and bail enforcement criminal justice and firearms instructor and a State of Utah Department of Public Safety firearms instructor.

Furhman not only teaches courses in firearms, but also has taught medical and other safety courses on topics ranging from fire safety to suicide prevention to AIDS/HIV and CPR/first aid. He is a state certified firefighter, and current president of the Gaylordsville Fire Department.

Herb provides entertaining and thought provoking programs, looking at issues and concerns while expanding his students’ insight into firearm safety. Present and past students include federal, state and municipal law enforcement, armed security guards, military personnel, national park service employees and the general public,

HF LearnSafety offers a wide variety of courses, ranging from the Basic Pistol Safety Course (the required state pistol permit safety courses for Connecticut, New York, Utah, and most other states) to personal and tactical defense training for private citizens and Connecticut sworn law enforcement officers.

Plus HR 218 qualification for retired police officers, the CT Security Officer Guard Card and the CT Armed Security Officer Blue Card Courses, the CT Bail Enforcement Criminal Justice Course and the CT Bail Enforcement Agent & Bail Bondsman Firearms Course.
