State Police in Poughkeepsie arrest Millbrook resident following larceny investigation

PRESS RELEASE

Washington, New York – On September 22, 2016, New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation from the Poughkeepsie barracks arrested Laura M. Hurley, age 52, of Millbrook, New York, for Grand Larceny in the 4th Degree, a Class E Felony, and Official Misconduct, a Class A Misdemeanor.

In January of 2016, a Town of Washington official reported that Hurley had stolen over $1700 in town funds to pay a family member’s college loans. The misappropriation of town funds by Hurley occurred between March of 2014 and July of 2015, while Hurley was employed as the Town of Washington Bookkeeper.

On September 22, 2016, the Town of Pleasant Valley Justice Court signed a warrant ordering Hurley’s arrest.  Hurley was arraigned in the Town of Pleasant Valley Court and released on her own recognizance.  She is scheduled to appear in the Town of Pleasant Valley Court on October 20, 2016 at 5:30 p.m.
