Documentary about Pioneering Landscape Designer and Environmental Champion Jens Jensen

(Millbrook, NY) On Friday, July 8 at 7 p.m. join the Cary Institute for an award-winning documentary about the pioneering landscape designer and environmental champion, Jens Jensen.

The film chronicles the Danish immigrant’s rise from a street sweeper in the 1880’s to the “dean of American landscape architects.”

Jensen created the “Prairie style” of landscape architecture, and led a movement to conserve threatened areas. He created Columbus Park in Chicago, as well as over 600 parks and gardens throughout the Midwest and other regions. Jensen led opposition to industrialization of the Indiana shoreline, a battle that lasted 50 years before becoming the Indiana Dunes National Park.

A Q&A with Carey Lundin, the film’s Director and Co-Producer will follow the screening. The event is co-sponsored by Innisfree Garden and The Garden Conservancy.

Free and open to the public, the event will take place in the Cary Institute auditorium located at 2801 Sharon Turnpike, Millbrook, NY. Seating is first come first served. For more information call(845) 677-7600 x121 or visit the website www.caryinstitute.org.
