Sherman Historical Society’s

ANTIQUES APPRAISAL DAY

Saturday, August 22nd, 10 am – 2 pm

Mark your Calendars! It’s back by popular demand: ANTIQUES APPRAISAL DAY at the Sherman Historical Society Barn.

The Society has once again gathered a topnotch team of qualified appraisers for this event. They include: John M. Jenner and Edward J. Holden—antiques experts; Amy G. Poster, Curator Emerita, Asian Art, Brooklyn Museum; Susan Reich of CT Quilts; and Abe Echevarria, Art Professor Emeritus, WCSU, Society of Illustrators. Each will bring their own specialties to the table and altogether will be evaluating antiques, furniture—including country and painted, glass and bottles, primatives, household/family life items, fine art, Asian art, and quilts.

The price for appraisals is $10 per item, with a limit of three items per person. (Drop-off is available for large items.) However, do note, no certificates of value will be issued.

The Historical Society is appreciative of the generous sponsors whose commitment has helped offset the cost of this event. They are: Jennings Oil Company; Irit Granger of William Pitt/Sotheby’s International Realty; Jamie J. Spannhake of Spannhake Law, LLC; Kathy Fazzone of Fazzone & Harrison Realty, LLC; and Erich Diller of Evolve Design Group, LLC; The Old Store Museum & Gift Shop; Justin S. Krul of Just In Antiques, and Andrew Alexander of Alexander & Jagodzinski. We thank you!

It’s free to any who want come to watch! There will also be an antiques/collectibles table with items for sale as well as the SHS food concession of beverages and fruit, which, alone is worth the trip!

Parking for visitors will be at the nearby Sherman School (handicap drop-off allowed).

If you think you have a potential treasure or possibly priceless heirloom stored up in the attic or under the bed, dust it off, bring it on down and find out!

The Sherman Historical Society is located at 10 Route 37 Center, Sherman, CT 06784.
