New York State Police release results of “Operation Hang Up” campaign

From April 10 through April 15, 2015, the New York State Police issued 17,447 tickets, 2,752 of them for cell phone or texting while driving.

During the campaign, the New York State Police targeted drivers using handheld devices when behind the wheel.

Troopers also were on the look-out for distracted or impaired drivers, those not properly buckled up or violating the “Move Over Law.” Below is a sampling of the total tickets that were issued.

The goal of the Operation Hang Up campaign is to enforce the law and raise awareness and deterrence of distracted driving.
