Emma Donovan and Noelle Vitro to compete at the World Tap Championships this December in Germany

The United States Tap Dance Team will be traveling to Riesa, Germany to compete at the World Tap Championships this December. The team boasts dancers from a dozen different states. After auditioning for a place on the USA Tap Team this past summer and being selected for the team,  the dancers will represent the United States at the competition which is also known as the “Olympics of tap dance”. The event is sponsored by the International Dance Organization (IDO). The dancers will be competing against tap dancers from over 30 countries around the world.

Many of the dancers have been practicing since the summer and many have been traveling to Boston for rehearsals on the weekends. They have rehearsal for 6 hours on both Saturdays and Sunday before traveling back to their respective home states.

The team will be competing with over 20 different dances within 3 separate age categories. They will be performing solos, duos, trios, small groups and formations choreographed by Nicole Aravena and Bill Coates from Seven Star School of Performing Arts in Brewster, NY and Nancy Chippendale choreographers from North Andover, Massachusetts.

The dancers will travel from around the country, including Seven Stars School of Performing Arts, Brewster NY. Upon arriving in Germany the dancers and their families will have 2 days to sight see before the competition begins. Tours have already been set up for groups to visit Dresden, Leipzig, and Meissen.
