DCC Lecture to Focus on Birthright Citizenship, 14th Amendment

September 1, 2015 – The issues of immigration and citizenship have been pushed to the foreground as the 2016 presidential race heats up. An upcoming lecture at DCC will put the conversation in historical context.

Paul Finkelman, distinguished professor emeritus at Albany Law School, will discuss “Birthright Citizenship and the 14th Amendment” at Dutchess Community College on Sept. 15 at 12:30 p.m. in the James and Betty Hall Theatre in Dutchess Hall. The event is being held to mark Constitution Day, and is free and open to the public.
Finkelman has authored more than 30 books and 150 scholarly articles. His op-eds and other pieces have appeared in The New York Times, The Washington Post, USA Today and The Huffington Post and recently he was named the ninth most cited legal historian by Brian Leieter’s Law School Rankings.

The lecture is sponsored by the DCC Office of Academic Affairs, with support from the June and Aaron Gillespie Forum. For more information, contact Dr. Werner Steger at (845) 431-8522.
