Obituary, Thomas Frederick Dance, Sr.

 

Thomas Frederick Dance, Sr., 84, a long-time resident of Pawling passed away at his home in Pawling, NY on Tuesday, August 25, 2015.

Tom was born in Brooklyn, NY to Edward and Veronica (Sticker) Dance on June 23, 1931.  He joined the US Army and proudly served in the Korean War in the 14th Infantry Regiment 25th Infantry Division.  He went on to marry Anna Dolores Predham in NYC on August 12, 1962.  Tom was employed as a supervisor for the NYC Department of Parks and Recreation for years, until his retirement in 1996.

Tom had many joys and hobbies during his lifetime, which included antiquing, gardening, reading, and going to tag sales.  He and his family vacationed in Cape Cod, MA every summer for over 40 years.

Tom is survived by his wife, Dolores, of Pawling, and his three children, Thomas Jr of Pawling, Stephanie Dance-Villetto of Lagrangeville, NY, and Elizabeth Verrier and her husband Butch of Tucson, AZ.  He is also survived by four beautiful granddaughters, Deanna Villetto, Kayla Villetto, Desiree Verrier, and Sasha Dance, and his sister Margaret (Bob) O’Reily of Maryland.

Tom is predeceased by both of his parents and his brother, Edward Dance.

Calling hours will be at the Horn & Thomes, Inc. Funeral Home, 83 East Main Street, Pawling Friday, August 28th2-4 and 7-9 PM.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 10 AM at St. John’s Catholic Church, Pawling.  Burial with full military honors will follow in St. John’s Cemetery.
